Social Media sites are popping up almost as fast as your Facebook “friends”. I won’t say No, it doesn’t beat face to face networking! But, if you are searching in your present area (geographically)…Both Facebook and LinkedIn and local sites have merit for the job seeker! LinkedIn has a specific link to Jobs. Try www.groupsite.com and Meetup.com and search geographically for groups in your area. Groupsite is the site to create groups or join existing ones-many of which have job announcements and review the members to see who you might connect with in person. Meetups are specifically created groups- face to face -for various purposes, job-seekers’ networking, walking/hiking clubs, business networking and career changing/job seeking.
