Glucophage (Metformin) is a drug used to treat Type 2 diabetes, and it’s believed that it may possibly help with weight loss. Compared to many other medications it is relatively safe, but only for diabetics. There has been little published research into it’s use purely for weight loss and misusing it is potentially fatal so it should not be used without medical supervision. Bear in mind that if it was a serious candidate for safe weight loss the drug companies would be falling over themselves to market it that way. Sorry, but there’s still no magic pill for the obese. The only formula which works is to use up more calories each day than you intake.
