Does getting a tattoo just feel like a constant scratch?

The pain of getting a tattoo depends on many factors. It is a very different experience to everyone. The amount of pain will depend on the area that you will be getting tattooed, the amount of detail, amount of time etc and also your own pain tolerance. What hurts for you, may not hurt so bad for others. Also the bonier an area is, the more pain is to be expected. Places like ribs, ankles, feet, wrist etc will most likely hurt a lot more than a shoulder or arm tattoo. Also the less skin the more pain. I got my 1st tattoo (a small butterfly) a few months ago on the back of my right shoulder. It honestly did not really hurt at all. It felt like a cat scratch on top of sunburn. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most painful it was about a 2. It took about 20 to 30 minutes at the most. However I got my second tattoo yesterday (3 very detailed monarch butterflies) starting at the right hand bottom corner of my back and going up to just under my ribs. I can honestly say that it was ago
