Does george bush really hate gay people?
George Bush may or may not hate gay people, but he manipulates those who dislike gay people in order to get votes. He mentions a US Constitutional Amendment against same sex marriage during an election season because the Defense of Marriage Act prevents him from making same sex marriages in Massachusetts illegal in that state. Gay people, discrimination against gay people, and hate crimes against gay people are used as pawns in the game of politics. Just as Bush has supported legislation against same sex marriage, Obama has supported Donnie McClurkin and James Meeks who are active in denying rights to gay people. Politicians should be judged on their actions more than their words, and when a politician marches in a gay pride parade knowing that it could be used against them by an opponent who uses gay rights as a divisive issue it shows the content of their character.
