Does gene transfer occur with genetically modified crops?
It can do. Studies have shown that a) pollen from genetically modified crops can be carried tens of kilometres by the wind b) some major US food crops were contaminated by low levels of DNA sequences from GM crops. However, there was no evidence found in this 2004 study that the crops were unsafe. This research was carried out by the Washington-based Union for Concerned Scientists.
