Does gender politics influence ICT?
Politicians and managers in ICT tend to highlight the importance of increasing the numbers of women in this industry. Feminist research suggests that the benefits of this increase are unequally balanced between men and women. Within this context the 6th International Women into Computing Conference is being organised at the University of Greenwich, USA from 14th-16 th July 2005. The intention of this conference is to bring together those interested in the: • relationship between gender and ICT • positioning of gender within ICT • influence of gender on the development of ICT • presentation of revolutionary ideas to make women s participation in this industry more of a reality .
