Does Franchising Blow Out the Glass Ceiling For Minorities?
Many minorities in the past have claimed that in the United States it’s very hard to get ahead if you are not white. It is my sincere belief that those days are gone forever, but I do realize that these issues exist in some small towns and still in some places in our great nation. In other words we are perfect, but we’ve come a long way. If you are a minority, or even if you are in the majority, but still considered a minority or potentially a disadvantaged business person, then may I suggest you look into franchising? First of all, the franchisors are not allowed by law to make it difficult for a minority to buy their franchise. They have to treat all buyers equally regardless of religion, race, or age. Sometimes this can be quite a hardship on a new franchisor, as they assume incorrectly that their perfect franchise buyer would be profiled as such and such type of individual. Although, as franchisors grow bigger they realize that they actually do better the more diversity they have.
