The second-biggest auto maker is looking to possibly develop alliances with other car manufacturers as it also looks to turn its business around. Initial reports in the Wall Street Journal indicated CEO William Clay Ford Jr. had spoken to Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan and Renault. The conversation with Ghosn, however, was brief and served merely to indicate Ford’s interest in the event that talks by Renault and Nissan with GM did not work out. Ford which has lost $1.4 billion through the first half of the year is exploring several options. James Schrager, Clinical Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management, says Ford doesn’t need an alliance with another automaker. According to the New York Times, Schrager points out “Ford has alliances currently, most of which have not much good for either party. It’s not a game of size.
