Does fondant cost more than buttercream?
Yes. It is exponentially more expensive to work in fondant, hence the price difference between fondant and buttercream designs. Of course, fondant looks incredibly nice! Is everything on the cake edible? Typically, yes. Of course, it depends on the cake. Almost all of the cakes in the gallery feature designs that are 100% edible. How do your cakes stand up in heat? Although some common sense is needed (I advise clients to never set a cake in direct sunlight), I only offer fillings that are safe to consume even after sitting out for several hours. I still advise that leftovers be refrigerated. Weather is one of the factors I need to take into account when working on a cake, as fillings and fondant are very much affected by heat and humidity.
