Does flying cause sun damage?
This is something I ponder every time I fly. I have read that since planes are so high in the sky and so much closer to the sun that the UV rays that come through the windows of the plane are pretty strong. But then I have a friend who is a pilot and he claims the windows have a UV coating to protect you. I have searched and can’t find any info about this. If the windows aren’t coated, then the light that comes in will be UVA rays, which are the same rays that penetrate through car windows and through your home or office windows. They won’t cause your skin to burn or darken, but they will cause sun damage and wrinkles in the future. Lately I’ve been looking at pilots and flight attendants to see if I notice them having more sun damage or wrinkles than normal, but honestly I haven’t seen anyone with alarming skin. I do know one flight attendant that is obsessed with sunscreen, and an ex-flight attendant that claims her co-workers had aged skin. At this point I still have no idea! Wear s
