Does Fiber Cement Shingle Siding negatively impact the home value?

0

We have cedar siding on 3/4 of our home, painted white. It needs to be replaced due to rot. A siding company recommended replacing with HardieShingle siding (fiber cement siding); particularly given the front of the home is brick. Would this have a negative impact on our home value; when we sell the home? It looks very similar to cedar, particularly since ours is painted white (not natural wood). But upon closer inspection, it is obviously not. I am concerned a buyer might interpret this in the same manner as Vinyl siding.
