Does FastPictureViewer support high-quality image downscaling/resizing?
Yes. In hardware accelerated mode, where the graphic processor (GPU) is used to perform truly instantaneous image rescaling, the program attempts to use the highest quality resampling available on the particular display card. The impact on performance is imperceptible and zooming in and out truly is instantaneous and high quality. When hardware acceleration can not be enabled, the program reverts to the fastest “classic” drawing techniques and since the rescaling is performed on the fly, a fast algorithm of medium quality was selected instead of a best quality but slow algorithm (like Fant or Bicubic). This is not a problem when viewing images in full-screen or in a large window, but this can produce harsh pictures if the window is small. Most importantly, the zooming is still near-instantaneous and 100% or magnified pixels are displayed with the best possible quality, only the reduced images are affected. Hardware acceleration can be turned ON and OFF from the program options. Note th
