Does fasting during lent include Sundays?
Sunday is the day of the resurrection and therefore a day of celebration. So ideally we do not give up things on Sunday. Or said more correctly, we do not deprive ourselves of things on Sunday. With that in mind, whether or not we break our Lenten Disciple on Sunday might depend on if what we gave up is something that may be harmful to us or not. For instance, I gave up caffeine one year which as you can probably imagine was difficult for the first couple of weeks. But when I finally got to Sunday I decided to have a Diet Coke, and it kept me awake until 4 in the morning. So for me it was better to just give up the caffeine pretty much all together. But that was my situation. The real thing is that for most of us, we can give up something for 6 days. But the idea of giving it up for 46 days can cause us to get a little obsessive about the thing. So if we have a problem we can take a little bit of chocolate, or eat fried food, or whatever. It sort of gives us a little break and helps us
