Does FAHN lobby for the passage of legislation?
Family and Home Network (formerly Mothers At Home) is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose primary mission is to provide support and education to at-home mothers and those who desire to be at-home to nurture their children. Thus, our tax status permits the revenue generated by FAHN to be exempt from taxes, and contributions received from donors are tax deductible. FAHN must adhere to certain restrictions on government affairs activities to retain our 501(c)3 status. Such organizations must avoid all election campaigning and must keep lobbying within permissible limits. While FAHN is permitted limited lobbying within IRS guidelines, FAHN currently limits its activities to non-lobbying education efforts. For example, reports on legislation which appear in Welcome Home (WH) provide information and analysis of interest to WH readers.
