Does excessive zinc supplementation increase the risk of prostate cancer?
The July 2003 Journal of The National Cancer Institute reported that men who supplement with 100 mg of daily zinc are at twice the risk of advanced prostate cancer, as are men who supplement with amounts that excessively exceed the Institute of Medicine safe upper limits of zinc for more than 10 years. This data was collected from a 14 year follow-up survey of 46,974 health professionals.
