Does everybody have the ability to become a professional singer?
No. Being a professional singer is more than just being able to sing. The best are able to sight sing, have good nerve control (have you ever sung whilst nervous? It thins the voice and makes it very warbly!) – people skills are essential! It’s a very fickle business and if you rub someone up the wrong way, you won’t work again! Professional singers are able to work under immense pressure – often you’ll only get 1 or 2 run thoughs of a song you’ve never heard before (that’s if you’re lucky!) before you have to do a live take/recording. Finally – to get into the business – it’s a lot more about ‘who you know’ than what you can do initially.
