Does every YRO need a completed Asset?
To recommend requirements to the court, the YOT will have needed to complete an Asset for the young person or ensure that the assessment on which they are basing their pre-sentence report or recommendation is no more than three months old or there have been no significant changes in the young person’s life. Case Management Guidance provides best practice for using existing reports, stand downs or addendum reports. Having assessments on all young people whether on standalone requirements (not managed by the YOT) or not allows each and every agency that has contact with the young person to have greater insight into their offending behaviour. This allows them to put in place effective interventions to prevent further offending.
