Does Ethnic Hellenic religion have a professional priesthood?
There was never a ‘professional’ priesthood in our religion, as far as mainstream religious practices go, which were both public and personal. In antiquity ‘professional priests’ were only employed as soothsayers and in the mystery forms of the religion, the details of which have been lost and cannot be practiced today. For the time being, in the modern practice of Hellenic religion any moral individual, who is able to respectfully face the Gods, can fulfil priestly obligations. In contrast to the Christian clergy who pretend they are their ‘God’s’ agents, the elected priests of the Ethnikoi act as representatives of their community to the Godly realm.
