Does endometriosis cause major problems with fertility?
I have been ttc for the last 6 years without success. I had a laparoscopy in October last year and they discovered I had endometriosis which they lasered away. 6 months later and I’m still not pregnant but starting IUi treatment soon so am hopeful. I’ve heard of people who have had endometriosis who have got pregnant i.e. Emma Bunton and Louise Redknapp so there is hope.
It is estimated that infertility affects around 40% of women with Endometriosis Infertility can be one of the most devastating consequences of Endometriosis. So not only does a woman have to deal with a debilitating disease and all the pain it brings, she may also have to deal with loosing her chances of motherhood. This simply adds insult to injury for those women who were keen to have children of their own. But let’s not paint a totally gloomy picture here. It is fortunate that not all women who have endometriosis are infertile. It is estimated that around 40 percent of women with endometriosis suffer from fertility problems. If all women who had endometriosis were infertile then birth rates would drop considerably and a rush to find successful treatment for this disease would, hopefully, be implemented.
