2009-09-09 Shall we just dispense with the introduction where I tell you how important the Madden franchise is in the videogame industry and just get to the good stuff? Madden NFL 10 on the iPhone is hands-down the best football experience on the platform. Now, that doesn’t mean it’s perfect. There is certainly room to grow and evolve. Some of the button placement needs tweaking. The tackle animations look strange. But as a first iteration of a longstanding franchise with a zillion expectations on a system that would at first seem hostile to a football sim, Madden satisfies. While Madden NFL 10 is designed as a football simulation – after all, it has all of the NFL’s players, teams, and stadiums – this is not as drill-down, hardcore as the console games. Madden on the iPhone shares a philosophy with the mobile editions of Madden (and Jamdat Football): make it accessible.
