A little alcohol “thins” the blood. This increase in blood flow to your extremities would cause an increase in you reading. Some recommend a nip when in severe cold. You may feel warmer because your fingers and toes are getting more circulation. Although you may be more comfortable that heat is just drawn from your core temperature. You’re not getting warmer, just spreading out the heat. Actually you lose body heat more through your skin with alcohol. For example, you “lost” more heat to your thermometer which produced a higher reading.
