Does Donovan McNabb need a rushing game?
The Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback has been less prone to run this season, but still accounted for 24% of the team’s rushing yards. That’s a problem. Some are calling for rookie Correll Buckhalter to unseat starting tailback Duce Staley, who hasn’t had a 100-yard outing in six games, during which he’s averaged 2.6 yards per rush and 40.8 per game. Staley, who missed much of the 2000 season with a foot injury, has had trouble getting outside. McNabb can beat a defense with his arm or legs, but it’s always better when the legwork in the running game is handled by the backs. Will Brett Favre take any more dives? Green Bay’s three-time MVP took a lot of flak for his WWF-like flop on Sunday, which allowed Michael Strahan to set the NFL’s season sack record. But fun and games are over.
