Does doing 100 pushups and 100 situps a day stunt the growth of a 14 year old?
Okay, I am 34, a personal trainer and a Chiropractor. I have been lifting since I was 16 and am an avid lifter. You WILL NOT stunt your growth no matter what people will tell you. Most people’s bodies are of course different, but the cut off age in the medical field is 13. From then on, your golden, just make sure you start off slow. Getting protein is difficult for you unless you have financial support but try to get your intake to 150% of your body weught… ie. if you weigh 100 lbs, aim for 150g of protein per day. As you grow, make sure your intake does as well. Carbs are easy. Just get at least 200 g per day and try to limit your intake of processed carbs like white bread and regular pasta. Opt for whole wheat items instead. Most people find these taste better anyway… except for brown rice, YUK!!! Form a Chiropractic view, beware of the push-ups as they can be invasive on your shoulders later in life. I know you are young and invincible… so was I at your age, but now I am payi
