Does diversity recruitment give women or minority candidates an advantage over white males?
I don’t think so. Clients often tell us they have enough white males internally to look at for a position. They ask us to find a broader slate of people who will help them achieve what they want to do and reflect their stakeholders. You might have a white male, female and person of color who are equally high performers as candidates. If the client wants someone at the senior level who will reflect its stakeholders demographically and attract people to help with retaining the work force, it might lean toward the person of color, assuming all things are equal. The requirements include performance, reflecting the demographic of stakeholders and helping from a retention standpoint. At the end of the day, the client might say the white male is the better performer and choose to go with that person, because it wants the highest-performing candidate in the job. • Are there enough women and people of color to make current job-candidate slates inclusive? There is a deeper pool of talent than mo
