Does discontinued use of caffeine cause withdrawal symptoms?
[The following answer is from the IFIC, International Food Information Council Foundation. 1100 Connecticut Avenue, N. W. Suite 430. Washington, DC. 20036 (reference in bibliography- Part 8)] Depending on the amount ingested, caffeine can be a mild stimulant to the central nervous system. When regular caffeine consumption is abruptly discontinued, some individuals may experience withdrawal symptoms, such as headaches, fatigue or drowsiness. These effects usually are temporary, lasting for a few days, and can often be avoided if caffeine cessation is gradual.
