Does digital mammography take less time for both patients, radiologists?
Yes. For the patient, a digital exam typically takes less time than the standard film-based mammography. The electronic images can be displayed in real-time for the technician and are capable of being interpreted and adjusted immediately by the radiologist. As a result, digital mammography may reduce the need for repeat tests. Electronic archival of patient images means easier retrieval and transmission of patient information to health-care providers. Traditional mammograms take film images which are then displayed on film and archived on film.
