Does Dianetics and Scientologists beleive that by “Catharsis” person is healed of psychological problems?
In Dianetic auditing one is taken through the incident in a series of auditing (counselling) commands and one goes through it again and again, recounting the incident until the person has had a major realization and has located and uttered the postulate (decision) he made at the time. This is thought to eliminate the aberrative content and effects, aka “charge”. The more one does this, the more unburdened the person is of past traumas. Dianetic incidents are thought, by Scientologist, to form chains of similar incidents. One fall on the ice would “restimulate” the person re other falls on the ice. One would want to get the first one on the chain to resolve the chain. It’s not a brain thing at all. There are other things like this, some of which directly taken from Dianetics, some not, but none are exactly the same.
Dianetics, and I’ve had experience with them in Brighton England, is aimed at getting as much money out of you as it can. Thats why it targets people like Michael Jackson and Priscilla Presley. It takes you past ‘Brainwashing’ and onto ‘mind alteration’. Brain washing, a term brought back from the Korean war where POW were subject to it, is easy to cure, you remove the victim from the brain washer. Mind alteration however, can take months of psychiatric treatment to deal with. The diabetics, with it’s ‘auditing’ and gawd knows what else will do nothing for you except chip away at the soul of….you. Don’t let them near you.
