Does DHEA help fight the HIV virus?
Low DHEA levels have been shown to predict a faster deterioration in health of those infected with the HIV virus (the virus responsible for AIDS). Also, studies in animals have shown that DHEA can increase levels of natural anti-virus compounds such as interleukin-2. However, DHEA supplementation in people infected with the HIV virus has not been shown to slow the progression of HIV disease or AIDS.
