Does DFO work with industry, universities, and fishing communities and others?
DFO works with universities, industry, other levels of government as well as fishing communities on many research initiatives. There is a lot of research being conducted outside of DFO and it is important for the Department to stay current and knowledgeable. On aquatic biotechnology regulatory science research, DFO does not collaborate with industry and academics with ties to industry in order to maintain impartiality and regulatory independence.
