Does Del Norte County have an attitude problem? You be the judge. I’ve recently returned from 13 months abroad in three countries (New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia). It would be hard to imagine more friendly people anywhere. It was a true delight. I was returning to Del Norte via Highway 199 and was going up the hill in the redwoods just before it hits Highway 101. Someone behind me was tailgating me. I tapped the brakes a couple of times to no avail. When they passed me, they waved one finger at me. Perhaps they were showing me their age or IQ. Driving on the left in these countries was a bit trying at first and I did a few silly things, but no one got angry with me. Even the person I rear-ended one day was not angry — bewildered, but not angry. Needless to say, I was a bit taken aback at this kind of reception only being back in Del Norte County for 30 minutes.
