Does definition of “specialist role” include broad aged care experience?

0

Broad aged care experience is not seen as a specialist role, and a registered nurse with broad aged care experience is not able to be funded automatically under the Panels initiative. If a panel identifies a local barrier which requires a nurse that has the specific skills and knowledge to address that barrier, but does not meet the qualification requirements, a proposal should still be submitted to the Department. This will allow the Department to assess each proposal on a case by case basis and focus on addressing local needs with the Panels Initiative. However Divisions are asked to clearly identify the specific skills that the nurse will be providing to the panel, and how that will address the barriers within their local area.
