Does Decomposition mean the same as synthesis?
Synthesis includes reactions that form larger, more complex biomolecules from smaller ones. Biosynthesis consumes free energy because the products are higly ordered and contain more chemical energy. In decomposition reactions, larger molecules break down into smaller molecules. Free energy is released from the breakdown of molecules.
