Does DC need a streetcar?
The District of Columbia has made a substantial commitment to the Metro system, especially Metrorail. The rail system does an exemplary job of connecting the District to the rest of the region. This, in turn, helps keep business in the District, increase economic development and improve quality of life factors for people living and working in the District. However, the Metro system was not designed to connect neighborhoods. By providing connections between neighborhoods, the streetcar will bring similar benefits, but focus these benefits on the residents of the district.
