Does Dantes Inferno contradict the Bible?
Answer Jasmine, In my opinion, Dante’s Inferno and the original Divine Comedy primarily because these are fiction. The Bible is the Inspired Word of God, and therefore, is absolute truth. Many asked me about The Davince Code when it came out a couple of years ago. I explained that I really enjoyed the book (and the movie), but that it has no affect on my faith. This was fiction, and it is no different that Ocean’s Eleven to me. Of course, an English Literature professor might have problems with this answer. Many years ago, when I was in college and took a Short Stories Literature class my professor continually was upset with me because I “believed” the stories. I didn’t “believe” them in the sense that I believe in the Bible, but I had a problem assigning anything dealing with reality to a fictional story.
