Does Damascus Target Supporters of Yasir Arafat?
The Syrian government has targeted Yasir Arafat’s supporters many times since 1971; more than that, the two sides have at times engaged in full-scale battles. In this section, I look at the complex nature of Syrian-PLO ties, take up the question of Damascus targeting Arafat’s supporters, and conclude with an assessment of current PLO-Syrian relations.
