Does Cypress Heights students perform any community service?
Yes. We call this our Apostolic Formation program, which is a program that creates in students a heart that is sensitive to the needs of others. Cypress Heights students participate in school-wide projects (such as holding food drives to benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank), mission work (in Mexico and other Missions in America), extracurricular service (toy drives, tutoring, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, etc). One recent example is when our football team recognize a need of another team, whereas they had a need for matching uniforms. Our athletes noticed that the need and asked if they could conduct a fundraiser to raise money to purchase them some uniforms. It turned out that the team with the need consisted of many inner-city children who had little means to afford new uniforms. Within a week’s time, Cypress Heights athletes raised over $2,200 and were able to purchase jersey’s and pants for all players, shirts and hats for their coaches. The team with the uniform
