Does cream contain gelatine when it is used as an ingredient in other products?
Q I notice fresh creams on the market list an ingredient ‘gelatine’. I also notice lots of other products which contain cream as an ingredient within them, e.g. Dollop Cream, Sour Cream, Kraft Philly, some dairy deserts etc. Products which otherwise appear to be vegetarian besides the mention of ‘cream’ as an ingredient. Kraft Philly and many others claim their product is vegetarian but at what point is a manufacturer required to declare an ingredient of an ingredient is actually not vegetarian. When I see cream listed as an ingredient, I assume the cream is no different to the fresh cream we buy which has gelatine. I’m somewhat confused by cream in its original form and cream being included as an ingredient. A You have raised a very interesting point. It is the same as when you see ‘chocolate’ as an ingredient in biscuits or confectionery. Have they used dark chocolate that contains butter oil, milk chocolate, dairy-free dark chocolate…? There is no way of telling. Which makes it ve
