Does Communist still pose a serious threat to the United States?
Answer Hi Chris, The reason why Communism became such an issue for hte US after WWII was that the Communist Soviet Union posed the greatest threat to the US. The Soviets took over half of Europe after WWII. They gained influence in large chuncks of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. When countries became “Communist” it usually meant that they were allying themselves econimically, politically, and militarily with the Soviet Union. It also usually meant that US companies doing business in those countries could have their property taken from them by the Government and that they would be tossed out and could no longer do business there. During the Cold War, there was also great concern that Soviet agents would convince gullible Americans to become Communists and then to spy for the Soviets, or perhaps eventually form some sort of internal treasonous organization. While there were a number of Soviet spies found, at that time, there to not appear to be any large scale Soviet attempts to underm
