Does Comfrey Tonique replace other fertilisers?
All plants and crops require regular feeding and a degree of soil preparation, and the incorperation of compost or rotted manure with the soil is highly recommended for building up organic matter content, increasing water retention, and providing soil micro-organisms with something to chew on. Comfrey Tonic cannot replace compost or manure (for this we would recommend B-actif Alfalfa Plus or Comfrey pellets), but was developed as a supplement to routine additions of organic matter. It contains a wide range of trace-elements, essential macro-elements and natural growth promoters which are rarely available to shallow-rooted plants (see the “about comfrey” page). By maintaining an optimum carbon:nitrogen ratio, Comfrey Tonic does not have to go through lengthy bacterial breakdown processes for these nutrients to be assimilated by plants. In other words, they are instantly available for root uptake, and the visible effects on plant health, growth and yield are soon noticable. B-actif Comfr
