Does Colorado have a license for X-Ray Technologists?
Colorado is not a licensure state. However, Colorado does require that all operators of human-use diagnostic x-ray machines be ARRT(R) certified, or have taken the Colorado Limited Scope Operator’s examination. Bone density equipment operators must provide the Department with proof of Limited Scope Operator certification in addition to ARRT(BD) or International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) certification. The minimum requirements for Computerized Tomography machine operators can be found in Part 2, Appendix 2E of the Colorado Rules and Regulations Pertaining to Radiation Control (the Regulations). Dental, chiropractic and veterinary operators are regulated by their respective Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies Board. Industrial-use x-ray machine operators are regulated by the Department and the requirements are set forth in Parts 5, 8 and 9 of the Regulations.
