Does cognitive development have relevance in social work?Why?
Well, it probably does, but if you tried to push that issue you may run into some problems. Cognitive development basically means that you can improve yourself and your brain function by practice and the appropriate resources to focus your thought processes. The biggest single problem you may have in pitching the notion of increased brain activity through good schooling is access. Basically, its simply that many people in need of social assistance do not have the access to the best schooling and educational practices (i.e.: having plenty of time to help their children study, funds for private schools, etc.). The suggestion of taking time off to help one’s children do better in school may not be a realistic option to many single parents or to parents in a low socio-economic class, and private schooling or private tutoring outside of school is even further from reality. So it is certainly a topic up for discussion, but the better question may be; how can we successfully implement more co
