Does coding require certification?
Providers who employ coders prefer some assurance of the coders background and capability. Meditec certifies this background upon successful completion of the course and an 80% or better score on the final examination. Aside from Meditec’s certification, you may become certified by a number of national certifiers (AHIMA, AAPC) and www.med-certification.com as a CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist).
