Does cloud truly love tifa?
It’s hard to tell if Cloud really loved Aerith or not. I think that the actual ff7 game suggests quite strongly that there was a love triangle between the three of them. And then in Advent children it also suggests that he had feelings for Aerith because of the flashbacks he had about letting her die and the complete heartbreak and remorse he has over it, even after 2 years. You don’t greave that hard over someone you haven’t known very long unless you have some sort of feelings for them. I think his whole struggle between whether to run away or stay had to do with that same love triangle idea. Why couldn’t he have loved them both? Happens in the real world all the time. Maybe he was so distant in the beginning of Advent Children because the girl he love was killed by Sephiroth and he was afraid to let himself love Tifa because something bad could happen to her.
