Does CHM accept premedical courses taken online?
Yes. Please be advised that the position regarding online course work as stated in the current MSAR is incorrect. The College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University does accept online course work to fulfill our premedical requirements. However, we would be concerned if every lab component of our required science courses was completed online. Online lab credit will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We will need to review the course description and see how MSU would handle it as a transfer credit, as we use the MSU course equivalent or credit as our standard benchmark. If an online course that involved no practical experience were accepted for the lab component of a premedical requirement, we would highly recommend and strongly prefer to see evidence of other practical activities requiring observation, dexterity, and teamwork in addition to the online lab. A degree earned entirely online would raise significant questions about the student’s ability to participate in the classr
