Does cervical sweep bring on labour and contractions?

Only if labour is close anyway- it gives nature a helping hand rather than send a woman who is nowhere near giving birth into labour.

It’s said to…with my experience, it didn’t. My doctor started to do cervical sweeps at each appointment starting when I was 38 weeks pregnant…I was induced at 41 & 1/2 weeks. Honestly all it really does is make you uncomfortable and get excited for nothing haha BUT there is still a chance it could work, but the only way you’re going to go into labour is when your body and the baby are both ready or if you have to be induced lol It’s all up to you though…Good luck!

It can. A cervical sweep also called stripping or sweeping the membranes usually causes contractions. Those contractions may or may not help send you into labor. It doesn’t usually work unless you’re already close to labor starting. Here’s a good article about stripping the membranes.
