Does CD-R media look different after it has been recorded?

When a CD-Recorder writes to media it does change the color of the media in an easily visible way. So it is easy to see if a disk has been partly used. However, when all the disk has been used then the whole disk changes color so you will need to compare it to a blank disk and compare them.
