Does Candle Moods use lead free wicks?
Candle Moods uses zinc cored wicks in some of our candles. Zinc core wicks have a thin zinc core surrounded by braided cotton. The zinc core keeps the wick straight during production of the candle and during burning. Without this core candles could drown in the wax during burning, since there is nothing to hold the wick upright and in place. Zinc cored wicks are commonly used in the candle business, and are well below safety standards set by the EPA.
