Does Canada have an autocratic/authoritarian, democratic, or laissez-faire government?
In practice, Canada has a government model which operates on democratic principles comparable to any other western nation. We have elections when we’re supposed to. Their results are always respected. They’re often touted as a model other countries should follow. Our executive for the most part operates with their responsibility to the legislature in mind. We have rights. etc etc. That said, there are all sorts of things out there which range from rarely practiced to entirely ignored which lean our government more towards an authoritarian model more so than most citizens in a democracy would find tasteful. After all our current state was formed to promote “peace, order, and good government” in that order…. Here’s a list of things to consider… 1.
