Does CalWORKs pay for mental health, domestic violence and substance abuse treatment?
Yes. CalWORKs pays for the mental health, domestic violence or substance abuse treatments when the parent is receiving aid for him/herself, and the service provider providing the services has been contracted by DPSS to serve CalWORKs participants. A participant whose CalWORKs case was terminated because the children were detained may also receive the services if they are in Family Reunification. The services are referred and monitored through the GAIN (Welfare-to-Work) program.
