Does burning hydrogen produce greenhouse gases?
Burning hdrogen is the combination of hydrogen with oxygen to produce H20. But the production of hydrogen may produce green house gasses. Splitting water to form oxygen and hydrogen theoretically uses the same amount of energy at is given off during combustion of hydrogen. So it depends on how that energy is made. In parctice, due to incomplete capture of energy during combustion of hydrogen and energy losses during production of hydrogen, considerably more energy is required in production compared to generation.
